I’ve been going to the woods for nearly thirty years and want to share some of my interests with you. In the past I’ve directed a college outdoor education program, completed the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Mountain Instructor’s Course, worked at a paddling school (the Outdoor Centre of New England), and developed an outdoor education curriculum for middle-school students. I’ve backpacked part of the the Continental Divide Trail (the most beautiful part), climbed in Yosemite, paddled wild rivers in the Northeast, and generally frittered my life away hiking, camping and fishing. While I still love backpacking, my outdoor educational philosophy has evolved to include traditional camping skills and the philosophy of Woodcraft. I am by no means a Woodcraft expert. Far from it. But I am an enthusiastic and devoted learner! Maybe you too can learn along with me.
